Swedish award winning fiddler Lena Jonsson is one of the most influential fiddlers of her time. Her ability to balance a deep knowledge of traditional Swedish folk music with innovative artistic sensibilities, sparkling joy of life and a charisma of a rock-star have made her one Sweden’s most visionary musicians. She has created a unique style inspired by traditional Swedish music as well as rock, pop and the american old-time and bluegrass traditions. She has performed for Barack Obama and Greta Thunberg and played at the world expo in Shanghai.
Her album ”Places” was nominated for a Swedish Grammy in 2019. In 2021 the Lena Jonsson trio was awarded a Swedish Grammy, the Manifest prize and ”Album of the year” by Swedish radio for her second album ”Stories from the Outside”.
Arvid Svenungsson is a pianist, composer, organist and conductor from Stockholm.
He studied at the Royal Academy of music in Stockholm and since then he’s been collaborating with most of Swedens top artists. For seven years he was the organist of Katarina Church which is the largest church in Stockholm, famous for its music and 15 choirs. Now he’s working in Järvsö, a small village that has become a central part of Swedish folk music and culture. When not playing he spends a lot of time composing, both orchestral, choir- and piano works.
The night at the Vasa Museum they will perform music deeply rooted in the Swedish folk soul.
The will take you on a musical journey through the enchanted world of Scandinavia, from the ancient herding calls to ABBA.
